Biogas is a type of fuel that is naturally produced all around the world. It is formed from the decomposition of organic waste.

When organic matter, such as food waste, breaks down into anaerobic environments they release various gases, mostly methane and carbon dioxide. Since all of this is happening in an anaerobic environment this process is also known as being an anaerobic digestion. Anaerobic digestion is a fermentation process from waste from canneries.

There are multiple steps that go into the process of creating biogas.

Bioproducts are resources that are made from any biological renewable resource

Fermentation is used to create different types of resources. In order to ferment something there needs to be biochemical conversion which means that they need to use enzymes and microorganisms to convert biomass into bioproducts and biofuels. Fermentation is used in the process of making kombucha which is a popular drink in our society today. Some people are confused about how kombucha is made and what exactly fermenting something means.

People use a lot of plastic throughout their lives whether it be plastic from their grocery bags or plastic from the products that they use in their hair. A large number of plastic that is produced are used only once, and only 9% of plastic that is produced is then later recycled.

When creating wood used for lumber it is very important that you’re building materials such as wood are very well dried to make sure that the wood will be able to last longer and her more durable. If wood isn’t dried completely then it may warp over time and it could increase the time that the material will decay.

There are various different types of wood produces that have been engineered for building materials. I will provide a couple of examples that describe some kinds of wood that is engineered. Particle board is pretty cheap and is denser than other types of wood. Composite decking is wood decking which is made of lumber that will naturally resist moisture.

Humans use paper almost every day, although the rate of production of paper has slowed down. Paper is made in three easy steps. First you have to prepare the raw materials, then turn it into wood pulp, then consolidate the wood pulp. Humans use almost 500 pounds of paper per year.

You may think that you’re being eco-friendly, but the resources that you are using may not be as eco-friendly as you may think.
Surprisingly most of the forests in the United States are natural, the factors that influence these forests are precipitation and temperature in the area where the forest is located. Plantation forests are a different kind of forest where they are planted and managed by humans for the intent of maximizing the production of wood. These plantation forests create a small percentage of the United States forest population. Although these plantation forests are not natural they do produce wood up to 10 times as much wood per hectare than natural forests.

Ownership of forests is also an interesting topic when looking at these natural forests versus plantation forests. 🌳 Ownership of these forests is important because the management rules for keeping up with these forests are mandatory for public forests in the United States. 37% of forests have been found to be on government land which means they have to abide by the rules of the government on how to maintain and upkeep their forests. Majority of forests in the United States are privately owned so they don’t have to listen to the rules by the government.
Farmland is taking up a large part of the United States. Farmland is taking up 34% of the total land in the U.S. this is equivalent to the combined areas of both South America and Africa.

The process of getting forest certification can be very difficult. There are three different kinds of certification.
Climate change is a large problem that is occurring in society today. Global temperature is rising, sea level is rising due to the melting of glaciers, longer growing seasons are happening in the north, and lastly more droughts and heat waves can occur.

In society today people are consuming too many things. We can reduce consumption throughout the world in a couple of ways. People need to stop buying unnessesary items, only buying what you need, don’t waste food, and recycle when you can.

The Life Cycle Assessment is an approach that quantifies all impacts from the beginning of a products life all the way to the end of the products life. We are interested in using this approach because we are interested in protecting resources and then comparing products processes.

You’re going to publish a post today. Don’t worry about how your blog looks. Don’t worry if you haven’t given it a name yet, or you’re feeling overwhelmed. Just click the “New Post” button, and tell us why you’re here.
Why do this?
The post can be short or long, a personal intro to your life or a bloggy mission statement, a manifesto for the future or a simple outline of your the types of things you hope to publish.
To help you get started, here are a few questions:
You’re not locked into any of this; one of the wonderful things about blogs is how they constantly evolve as we learn, grow, and interact with one another — but it’s good to know where and why you started, and articulating your goals may just give you a few other post ideas.
Can’t think how to get started? Just write the first thing that pops into your head. Anne Lamott, author of a book on writing we love, says that you need to give yourself permission to write a “crappy first draft”. Anne makes a great point — just start writing, and worry about editing it later.
When you’re ready to publish, give your post three to five tags that describe your blog’s focus — writing, photography, fiction, parenting, food, cars, movies, sports, whatever. These tags will help others who care about your topics find you in the Reader. Make sure one of the tags is “zerotohero,” so other new bloggers can find you, too.
